First Oscar Screener Mailed to SAG Voters Over Labor Day Weekend
Just in case the appearance from the Venice, Telluride, and Toronto film festivals hadn't already managed to get obvious the honours months are formally going ahead, I learned today that people from the Academy of movement Picture Arts & Sciences and people from the Screen Stars Guild nominating committee received their first honours screener within the holiday weekend: Jim Kohlberg's The Background Music Never Stopped, a movie which was launched theatrically in March featuring a significantly-acclaimed lead performance from noted character actor J.K. Simmons (Juno) that Kerbside Points of interest, together with the pr firm PMK*BNC, has made the decision to push for any best actor nomination. Within the moving film -- which is dependant on the famous Oliver Sacks short story "The Final Hippie," and which gained a 65 % favorable rating on RottenTomatoes.com -- Simmons plays Henry Sawyer, a guy battling to re-interact with his lengthy-estranged boy following the more youthful guy evolves a brain tumor that prevents him from developing new reminiscences, and who finds that hearing his boy's favorite music (namely, those of The Grateful Dead), which in fact had sometime ago come together, now provides him using the best hope of healing their relationship. FULL DISCLOSURE: Kohlberg is really a distant relative of mine, although I haven't yet had the chance to satisfy or consult with him. I really hope to rectify that soon. Academy awards 2012
